It is true…Ralph and I are now responsible for Peru (pronounced PEE-ROO) Road in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina for the next 4 years since we have joined the Adopt-A-Highway program a few months ago.
We decided on Adopt-A-Highway would be a fun way for us to give back to the community that we live in and another way to showcase our commitment to our long distance relationship in Sneads Ferry.
Ralph and I have now been together for almost 3 years and we are planning on getting married September 1, 2018. We moved to Sneads Ferry, North Carolina about a year ago and being in this long distance relationship is very difficult…especially on myself when I am the one doing most of the driving back and forth every week. Crazy but we have never lived together in the same city yet.
I never feel settled in anywhere because I am constantly packing and unpacking every week. It is hard to feel at “home” wherever that is – either Virginia Beach, VA or Sneads Ferry, NC. I am very much looking forward to the day when we have 1 address together. So we try very hard to find new things we can call “ours” and start creating new memories together.
I have always been a big advocate on giving back and serving others in my community. I work from home so when we moved here in this small town I had to work extra hard to find new people to connect with and start exploring our new home town. One of the ways we have started to give back is we have adopted a highway in Sneads Ferry.
It makes me smile every time we drive by our little sign “Loving Simply Ralph and Naoma” in Sneads Ferry.
Ralph and I are now responsible for picking up all the litter on this 2 mile stretch of Peru Road in Sneads Ferry! So please pick up after yourself, don’t litter and take pride in your hometown. Even if you don’t Adopt-A-Highway you can still take the time to help out and pick up trash!
